Hello my friends!
This morning while I was getting ready to leave work, a friend sent me message on my phone asking me if Christians will be here during the Tribulation period mentioned in the Bible. My short answer was “No, we won’t” and I promised some explanation as to why I believe this. There are great Biblical scholars out there than can explain it better than I can….so I’m going to limit this as to what the Word of God says, for I believe it to say what it means, and means what it says, and to be taken in context. We also have the Holy Spirit inside us that Jesus promised, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things”John 14:26 NASB. So let’s start…
2nd Corinthians 5:10 NIV “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” This is the judgement for believers for works and service (or lack of) for Jesus after salvation while here on earth and takes place in heaven after the rapture during the Tribulation. This is often confused with the Great White Throne Judgement in Revelation 20:11-15 which happens at the end of the Millennial Kingdom where the damned are judged and thrown into The Lake of Fire.
Revelation 3:10 NIV “Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.”
1st Thessalonians 5:9 NIV “For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The Tribulation is also called the 70th week of Daniel found in the book of Daniel chapter 9: 24-27. It contains a magnitude of information of end time prophecy events dealing primarily with Israel and the coming Antichrist. Nothing indicates the Church will be present. With this in mind let’s go to our next bible verse.
Revelation 4:1 NIV ” After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
“Take place after this.” After what? The Rapture! The 7 Letters to the 7 Churches in Revelation chapters 1-3 not only mean 7 literal Churches in the first century A.D. but is also representative of the Church Age over the past 2000 years. I firmly believe we are in the 7th, Laodicea…the lukewarm church age that Christ says is naked and blind and needs to repent! (Rev. 3:18-19). There is no more mention of the Church in the chronological events of Revelation. Some say the Church is Raptured at Tribulation mid-point but Scripture does not back this theory up. Did you notice where it says, “And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet”? (emphasis mine) This takes us to our next verse.
1st Thessalonians 4:16-17 HCSB “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will always be with the Lord.”
1st Corinthians 15: 51-53 (KJ21) Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep; but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
This my friends is the Pre -Trib rapture event where we are united with Christ and our loved ones who have gone before us! This is the time of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Matthew 25:1-13 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. “And at midnight a cry was heard: “Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!” Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, “Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.” But the wise answered, saying, “No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.” And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, “Lord, Lord, open to us!” But he answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.” “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
That’s right! We don’t know the day or hour of the Rapture! However we DO know Jesus comes back to earth on the Mount of Olives after the battle of Armageddon (Zechariah 14:4) seven years after the start of the Tribulation and 3 and 1/2 years after the Abomination of Desolation (Daniel 9: 24-27). Logic would dictate that the Rapture cannot happen mid-point or the end of the Tribulation because Daniel gives us the EXACT time frame for this period.
2nd Thessalonians 2: 1-10 (NIV) “Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
The man of lawlessness, the Antichrist, the one who is prophesied in Daniel 9:27 that signs the peace covenant with Israel that marks the 7 Year Tribulation period, cannot come until after the Rapture. Why? The answer lies in the verse, “the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.” Who is it? None other the Holy Spirit! Where does the Holy Spirit reside at this present time? In Believers! We believers indwelt by the Holy Spirit and are (or supposed to ) be salt and light in this evil world. Let me ask you…what would this world be like without Christian influence? Hell on earth? That’s precisely what is going to happen when the Church is Raptured! The Antichrist indwelt by Satan himself is going to have his way on earth and will be the most horrendous time ever. Statistically, after the Rapture, by the end of the Tribulation 3/4 of all humanity perishes. That sounds grim and it is. But I have Good News! You DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE TRIBULATION!! John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world (you) that He gave His only begotton Son (Jesus) that whosoever (you) believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” It’s simple. Ask Him to save you and forgive you for your sins. He promised that He would. It doesn’t matter if you don’t fully understand everything about prophecy. Just know Jesus loves you ,and died for you, and wants to save you….. not only from the wrath to come but your soul from the Lake of Fire. A simple prayer meant from your heart, “Dear Jesus. Please save me and forgive me of my sins. In Your name I ask You, Amen” is the first step in the right direction. If you prayed this I would like to know about it and help you on this journey all I can.
I hope this has explained a few things to my friend and to anyone else that may be reading this. Blessings to all of you!
