Free to Worship

Hello my friends! Preacher John here. It’s been a long week at work and I didn’t have time to make a video but I thought I’d share some of my thoughts this week. My wife Toni had given me a little booklet titled “God Moments for Men” I keep in my locker at work. It has daily devotions that I’ll read and meditate on when I’m on break. The one I read from last night struck a chord with me and I’d like to share some of it with you.

“Free to Worship”

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Psalms 19:14 NLT

Here, as of now in the Unites States, our constitution guarantees us the freedom to worship God however the Lord leads us. For most of history this was not the case. Many settled to The New World to escape the tyranny of the state run church so they could worship freely without being imprisoned. The Separatists, commonly called the Pilgrims we think of on Thanksgiving, suffered hardship, sickness and death to be able to worship freely. And persecution against Christians continues to this day. Open Doors, a non-denominational Christian group says an estimated 100 million Christians worldwide are persecuted. All but one of the 50 countries in the list – Colombia, which ranked 46th – were in Africa, Asia or the Middle East.

Here in the U.S. we still have the freedom to worship unopposed by the government, yet I sense growing hostility towards Christians…the left, liberals, social and mainstream media, and many in public office are openly hostile to any expression of Christian freedom and liberty. The Koran and Islam practices can be taught and expressed in public schools but if anything Christian is practiced, the lawyers are called and the lawsuits start.
I know this is a minor thing in light of those who lose their lives for Jesus Christ everyday nor does it deserve comparison in that regard. The point I’m trying to make is if we take our freedom to worship as our conscience dictates for granted…we may lose it.

I encourage all of you to exercise your God-given freedom to worship Him in Spirit and Truth as He leads you!

May Christ Jesus bless you!
Preacher John
